| The 2007-08 College
Destination Rankings compare metropolitan areas in terms of their
attractiveness to students as college destinations. No other ranking
has defined what it is about certain locations (cities or regions)
that appeal to college students. For some it may be a high concentration of students, for others a city where they can get around easily. Still others seek a thriving nightlife. Statistically validated, these ranking are divided into three tiers, based on population and presence of nationally recognized universities. Three different indices (student life, city, and lifestyle) were created through the use of 14 different metrics (e.g. student cost of living, accessibility, performing arts venues, etc).
